Juan Pablo is an associate at Calderon & De La Sierra since September 2019, in the following Departments: Intellectual Property Litigation, Trademarks and Copyright, New Technologies and Data Protection.

Before joining the Firm, his professional practice includes his participation as a paralegal and associate in one of the most important law firms in Mexico, internationally recognized in the intellectual property field.

Juan Pablo has an extensive experience in the creation and development of strategies for the protection and maintenance of trademarks, commercial slogans, patents, utility models, industrial designs, and trade secrets. Furthermore, he has experience in: (i) the registration of copyright and related rights, (ii) preparing intellectual property agreements, (iii) preparing Privacy Policies (that comply with the national and international (-GDPR-) regulations), and (iv) preparing Terms of Use for websites.

On the other hand, he has an extensive experience in Administrative Litigation related with Trademark Cancellation Actions, Trademark Nullity Actions, Non-use Cancellation Actions and Infringement Actions filed and processed before the Mexican Trademark Office (“MTO”), Copyright Infringement Actions and Non-judicial conciliations filed and processed before Mexican Copyright Office (“MCO”), Administrative Motions of Review, Injunctions and Seizure of merchandise before Customs, Administrative appeals before the Mexican Administrative Court (“MAC”), Direct and Indirect Constitutional Appeals (“Amparos”) filed and processed before Federal Courts and Judges, Motions of Review filed and processed before the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice (“MSCJ”), and Arbitration Procedures related with domain names filed and processed before the WIPO.

During 2018 and 2019, Juan Pablo studied the LLM program “Law and Technology”, at Tilburg University (“Netherlands”), acquiring deep knowledge regarding cybercrime, e-commerce, blockchain, smart contracts, privacy and data protection, artificial intelligence, and intellectual property topics.

Third best place of the bachelor’s degree.

Winning the scholarship granted by the Dutch Embassy (“Nuffic Neso”) Orange Tulip Scholarship.
