Mauricio is an attorney at Calderón & De la Sierra since June 2017. He manages the New Technologies and Data Protection Practice.
He has focused his professional practice in the intersection between Law and technology. He outlines legal strategies for projects involving data science, artificial intelligence, blockchain, fintech, crowdfunding and e-commerce. He advises start-ups, scale-ups, and traditional institutions in fundraising, Corporate Law, and IP. He counsels both the public and private sector in data protection, privacy, and information security in compliance with both the national and international regulatory landscape.
He is a legal and business advisor for innovative and disruptive projects in finance, real estate, pharmaceutical products, and marketing. He develops regulatory impact assessments and embeds himself in the operational flow of his clients to provide innovative solutions. He has worked for recognized Mexican law firms. He has experience in commercial, civil, and administrative litigation.
He has a Law Degree from Universidad Anáhuac. He received the Premio Nacional al Desempeño de Excelencia EGEL – CENEVAL (EGEL – CENEVAL National Award for Excellent Performance). This is an award granted to the top 2% law students in Mexico. He published one of the first graduate thesis that goes over the legal aspects of blockchain technology under the title “Blockchain: Legal Implications, Application, and Regulatory Considerations”.
He is the tenured professor for Law I and II at the Irish Institute México. He is a recurrent speaker on Law, innovation, and education. He gave the TED Talk “People Tokenization” in the TEDx Anáhuac University.
He was General Secretary for the Student Council of the Universidad Anáhuac (Federación de Sociedades de Alumnos. FESAL). Also, he was General Secretary of the Recansens Siches chapter of the International Legal Honor Society of Phi Delta Phi.
